I am doing my senior in high school and I am thinking to get into college. I am thinking to do a major in history or art history / teacher certification. And people tell me that i am crazy because be a teacher is a big responsibility and they are underpaid. I am from cuba and I know spanish maybe i can teach spanish or esl, or history I love history.
Perhaps you'd consider teaching Spanish as such teachers are currently in demand and you might have part of your loan forgiven for entering into a high needs subject. History may be your love but it may be harder to find work as a history teacher. However, because you are hispanic and there are a shortage of hispanic teachers you might have an easier time. No guarantees though. I'm an art teacher and I love working with my kids. It's the adults, including many administrators and many co teachers, who are able to make life miserable. Too many attention seekers trying to be the center of attention for my taste. More power to you if you can deal with them.
